For the last 5 years, by God’s grace, we have been committed to evangelism, discipleship and providing health ministry opportunities for both national and international volunteers who share our missionary vision of “Evangelism and Discipleship through Health Outreach”. Lives have been touched and transformed by means of this effective tool and local churches empowered to share the love and compassion of Christ, resulting in many coming to know Him as their Lord and Savior.

About Jhonny and Vanessa Rodriguez

Our Family: We are Jhonny and Vanessa Rodriguez, blessed with three active, funny, loveable boys: Juan Arturo (born Feb. 3, 2014), Josue Arturo (born December 26, 2015), and Joel Arturo (June 22, 2017). Our move from Juan Dolio to Santiago has caused moments of stress and tears, but at the same time, we have sensed the Lord’s leading and strengthening as we walk through the process of adjusting to a new home, school, church, and community. Until we are more settled, Juan and Josue are being homeschooled, while baby Joel is just enjoying being his lovable little self.

Our Story: Dr. Johnny graduated from PUCUMM University, Dental School in Santiago, DR, followed by time spent in the USA where he participated in a Fellowship program of General Medicine and Oral Surgery in Marietta, Georgia as well as studying Theology at the First Baptist Church Bible Institute. He is presently finishing a Masters of Public Health Administration (MPH) and Epidemiology (PhD) In 2014 we served for one year as volunteers with Score Medical ministries in Juan Dolio, both in the clinic and with medical teams. For the last three years, we served as full-time missionaries: Dr. Jhonny as the Medical Director for Score International, Dominican Republic while his wife, Vanessa, was on the staff of the Score Medical clinic as the admin person. In December 2017, Dr. Johnny and his family relocated to Santiago, a city in the north-central Dominican Republic, opening new opportunities for ministry. In January 2019 they joined Koinonos and are now in the process of finishing the building of the first phase of a center to house both short-term international teams who come to work alongside them as well as providing an apartment home for their family.

• We are providing good, quality health care to the people of the Dominican Republic.

• We are committed to working alongside medical teams to coordinate outreaches in partnership with solid, bible-based, Christian churches in north and central DR.

• Our vision is to train volunteers from local churches to be evangelistic health promoters in their communities, demonstrating the love and compassion of Christ as they regularly visit with neighbors to share health topics as well as the Gospel.

• To assure long-term results and sustainability, we are committed to seeing volunteers from local churches trained in evangelism, discipleship, and missions. SHORT TERM

We will continue to coordinate Medical/Dental teams to serve in the DR. especially in the northern region in the towns and Villages around the Santiago area.

Since their beginning, God has allowed us to be involved with two small Medical Centers located in needy communities. The Clinics are outreach ministries of two local churches. We've come alongside them to train health promoters and to help expand the health services to their communities.:

•  MINIPEVID (Pediatric Ministry Live), a medical clinic ministry of Iglesia Bautista Vida Nueva, that is an outreach tool for a church planting project in the town of Tamboril.

• Ministerio Manos de Gracia(Hands of Grace Ministry) where hundreds of people are being seen and treated each month, allowing the local church to be known as a source of good, quality health service.

As a result of multiple outreach opportunities and seeing many come to Christ, God opens the doors for a church planting opportunity in the town of La Canela, 30mnts outside of the city of Santiago.

There is now a team of believers from several Dominican churches working in La Canela.  They are leading weekly evangelistic bible studies and discipling new believers with the help of the Woodring family.

The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.”

The ministry of “Evangelism and Discipleship through Health Outreach” is now starting over in the northern and central parts of the island and, more than ever, we need your continued partnership of support and involvement as we again step through new doors of opportunity.

We believe that our Lord will bring together men and women, believers and non-believers, churches, schools, universities, medical entities, construction ministries, sports ministries, and many others, who, in His hands, will be used as instruments of blessing to equip and empower the local churches and bless the lives of many in need.

In our own strength and wisdom we are inadequate for all that our Father has set before us to do! But we are encouraged to know that we serve a mighty God, and are depending on His guidance and on His Body to join us this ministry. As we serve, we ask you to pray for us, and if the Lord leads you, to join us in service and support of this ministry.

Koinonos is a ministry of Tipton Baptist Church, is governed by a board of Baptist pastors & church leaders, and its financial accountability and donor services are provided by Central Missionary Clearinghouse.
